Sunlight degrades retinol, and retinol makes skin more sensitive to sun. Using it at night solves both. Sunscreen the next morning is not optional — without it you undo the work.
It might, if you go too fast. Neck skin is thinner than facial skin and has fewer oil glands, so start at once or twice a week and build up over four to six weeks. Some dryness in the first fortnight is normal. If it stings or stays red, drop back.
